JetBlue Unveils BlueFirst Domestic First Class

JetBlue has introduced BlueFirst, a new domestic first-class product, featuring revamped seating, enhanced inflight entertainment, digital ordering, premium dining, and priority airport services. Bookings open this fall, with rollout across aircraft later this year, aligning with the airline’s JetForward strategy.

The cabin, arranged in a 2×2 configuration, boasts seats designed with T&N Flex foam from Tuft & Needle, providing additional support and pressure relief. Each seat offers 5 inches of recline and up to 7 extra inches of legroom compared to the main cabin.

JetBlue’s CEO, Joanna Geraghty, stated that domestic first class has become predictable, and customers seek more premium experiences. “BlueFirst offers a raised experience, distinctively JetBlue, with thoughtful touches, caring service, and great value,” she said. “It’s another aspect of our JetForward strategy, giving customers more reasons to choose JetBlue.”

Based on customer feedback, Geraghty noted comfort is vital. “Working with Tuft & Needle, we’ve created an added level of comfort that makes BlueFirst feel different from the moment you sit down.”

Technology and Connectivity

Each seat includes a 13.3-inch seatback entertainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing passengers to use their own wireless headphones. The screens feature the latest version of Blueprint by JetBlue. Power options include USB-A, USB-C, and 110VAC connections, with complimentary Fly-Fi internet available gate-to-gate.

BlueFirst introduces seatback ordering via the entertainment system. Passengers can order food and beverages, and use an interactive “Mixologist Mode” to create personalized cocktails. Orders are sent directly to inflight crew members.

The food program, FirstFare, offers meals served in a custom bento-inspired box on flights of 899 miles or longer. Examples include sweet or savory crepes and sesame noodles with beef or tofu. Premium snacks are available throughout flights, sourced from brands like Sockerbit and Tosi.

The beverage program includes wines selected by Parcelle, coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and teas from Smith Teamaker. Premium glassware is supplied by Fable, with artist-designed coasters created in collaboration with Danielle Rose Fisher. Geraghty noted, “BlueFirst refreshes the premium experience for today’s traveler, making it special, not stuffy.”

Airport Benefits and Market Positioning

BlueFirst passengers enjoy Group 1 boarding, dedicated overhead bin space, priority check-in, and expedited security lanes at over 30 airports. BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares include no change or cancellation fees, two free checked bags, and priority baggage delivery.

Overnight BlueFirst passengers receive a blanket and snooze kit.
