The Strand Turks & Caicos, a luxury resort in Providenciales, has appointed Randall Wilkie as its new general manager.
Wilkie brings over 40 years of experience in high-end hospitality, having held leadership roles across the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. His role begins immediately, with oversight of all resort operations.
Decades of luxury hospitality experience
Before joining The Strand, Wilkie led Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados, part of The Leading Hotels of the World network. His career also includes senior positions at Almond Beach Resort in Barbados and multiple Sandals properties, such as Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Grande Antigua.

He has worked as a consultant on luxury resort projects, including the opening of Blue Monkey Hotel & Beach Club in Barbados and Hotel Le Tremplin in France. Later, Wilkie returned to Barbados as managing director of Cobblers Cove, the island’s only Relais & Châteaux property, where he improved financial performance and strengthened its position in the five-star market.
His last position was managing director of Blue Waters Resort & Spa in Antigua, where he worked to raise the property’s profile among luxury destinations. Developers believe this background supports The Strand’s goals to enhance its guest experience.
John Fair, developer and managing director of The Strand, said the appointment demonstrates the resort’s dedication to strong leadership. “His decades of experience with some of the Caribbean’s most respected properties, combined with his practical, people-focused approach, make him the ideal leader for The Strand’s next phase,” Fair stated.
A resort with residential and hospitality elements
The Strand spans 2,200 feet of shoreline on Cooper Jack Bay, offering both hotel accommodations and residential units. Recent expansions include a partnership with Colorado-based Butterfly Pavilion to become a Certified Pollinator Sanctuary, a rare designation for resorts that aligns with a growing trend in luxury hospitality toward sustainability and distinctive guest offerings.

Wilkie described the property as feeling like “an extraordinary private coastal home where every detail has been anticipated.” He highlighted plans to strengthen relationships with travel partners and deliver what he termed a “world-class hospitality experience” for visitors.
The resort has additional developments planned. Within the next year, The Strand will introduce a full-service spa, a kids’ club, and a “Maestro in Residence” program, featuring musicians or artists for limited stays. Such additions are common among high-end resorts seeking to stand out, though few combine them with environmental efforts like the pollinator certification.
For now, the focus remains on refining operations under Wilkie’s leadership. His hands-on management style may help as the resort continues to blend its residential and hospitality elements. The impact of these changes on guest experiences will become clearer in the coming months.
