Ras Al Khaimah boosts India tourism push for growth

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has concluded a series of trade meetings across India, engaging with over 750 travel partners. The objective is to drive growth from this key market.

The initiative included a three-city roadshow in New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad from September 21-24, 2026, followed by participation in Mélange 2026 in Mumbai on September 26-27.

Strengthening Ties with India’s Travel Industry

A delegation from Ras Al Khaimah joined RAKTDA, meeting travel agents, tour operators, MICE specialists, and wedding planners. These meetings aimed to strengthen relationships and explore new opportunities.

Discussions highlighted Ras Al Khaimah’s diverse attractions, including beaches, deserts, mangroves, heritage sites, and the Hajar Mountains. The focus was on leisure, family travel, destination weddings, and MICE events.

Impressive Growth and Ambitious Targets

India experienced a 14% year-on-year increase in visitors to Ras Al Khaimah in 2025, with a 30% rise from May 2026 onwards. Room revenue from this market also grew by 12%.

The emirate welcomed over 670,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, marking its best performance to date. It aims to attract more than 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.

Looking ahead, the expansion of hospitality and events infrastructure, coupled with improved air connectivity, positions Ras Al Khaimah to meet its ambitious visitor targets. The emirate’s strategic efforts in India are expected to significantly contribute to achieving these goals, as it continues to diversify its tourism offerings and enhance its appeal to Indian travelers.

Expanding Infrastructure and Partnerships

Air connectivity is vital, with direct flights from several Indian cities. Ras Al Khaimah is also conveniently located near Dubai International Airport, providing additional travel options.

RAKTDA has broadened its airline partnerships, signing an MoU with Emirates for joint marketing initiatives and customized products.

New hospitality projects are in progress. Rotana Ras Al Khaimah – The Mangroves will soon open, featuring 258 rooms and event spaces. SAIJ Mountain Lodge and Wynn Al Marjan Island are scheduled to open in 2027, adding more accommodations and experiences.

RAKTDA promoted unique experiences such as the Jais Flight zipline, mountain and desert adventures, and cultural attractions. These offerings assist Indian partners in creating diverse itineraries tailored to various traveler segments.
