Expanding its footprint in the Eastern Himalayas, Summit Hotels and Resorts has secured a 24-room property in Samthar, West Bengal, targeting less-traveled areas. Set to debut between October and November 2026, Summit Samthar – The Offbeat Collection will enhance the company’s newly launched Offbeat lineup.
Location and amenities
Nestled about 30 km from Siliguri, Samthar boasts a setting amid forests, tea plantations, and mountain vistas. This relatively untouched mountain retreat offers opportunities for nature-focused and relaxed travel, including activities like trekking and birdwatching. The forthcoming hotel will include 24 rooms with Kanchenjunga views and private balconies, an on-site restaurant, a private lawn, tea garden, children’s play area, communal lounges, and expansive outdoor spaces.
Summit anticipates that the Samthar hotel will attract a broader leisure audience to the area, encouraging visitors to explore lesser-known parts of North Bengal beyond their usual itineraries.

Impact on the local economy
