Dusit Thani College and Avocados Australia have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support collaboration in education, workforce development, and food innovation. This agreement seeks to encourage knowledge exchange in food and culinary studies, enhance food technology development, and establish collaborative networks between academia and industry at an international level.
Partnership Goals
A new partnership aims to equip students and professionals with skills for the future food industry. Representatives from Dusit Thani College, Dr. Atthawet Prougestaporn and Ms. Pichaya Noranitiphadungkarn, signed an agreement with Avocados Australia’s Mr. Brad Rodgers and Mr. KC Liew. This collaboration is set to bridge the gap between education and industry demands.
The signing ceremony was attended by Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Pablo Kang. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a significant advancement in the culinary and educational ties between Australia and Thailand, supporting mutual growth and cooperation.
Culinary Competition
Dusit Thani College, in collaboration with Avocados Australia, hosted the Australian Fruits Culinary Competition 2026. This event aimed to select students to represent Thailand in Malaysia from November 1-4, 2026. Participants were tasked with creating dishes that blend Southeast Asian flavors with Australian ingredients, showcasing their culinary creativity.

“This competition is a great example of the strong and practical relationship between Australia and Thailand, bringing together education, industry and emerging culinary talent,” His Excellency Mr. Pablo Kang, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand said. “Partnerships like this create opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthen the people-to-people and commercial links between our two countries.”
Benefits of the Partnership
Dr. Atthawet Prougestaporn, Rector of Dusit Thani College, added that the partnership allows young chefs to explore new ingredients, new techniques, and new ways of thinking about food — skills that will serve them throughout their careers in the global hospitality industry. Mr. Brad Rodgers, Director for Western Australia at Avocados Australia, expressed the view that culinary education has an important role in market development.
The collaboration is set to offer Dusit Thani College access to industry insights, Australian produce, and joint project opportunities. This competition is part of a broader regional program, the Australian Fruits Culinary Programme, involving multiple Australian agricultural associations and ASEAN educational institutions.
